The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for schools to submit the marks of internal assessment to June 30. Consequently, the expected release date of Class 10 results have been postponed from June 11 to July 20.

The announcement comes in as the country battles the raging COVID-19 pandemic. The Board in an official statement said, “CBSE accords the highest priority to safety and health of the teachers”. 

They further explained that the lockdown has impacted the functioning of schools. The Board has given an extension in their marks submission deadlines till June 30.

“The marks will have to be submitted to the board by June 30. For the rest of the activities, the result committees can make their own schedule based on the scheme provided by CBSE”, read the statement. 

The evaluation policy dictates that students will be graded out of 20 marks for each subject in the internal assessment, as every year. The remaining 80 marks will be allotted on the basis of student’s performance in tests throughout the year. 

Class 10 exams were cancelled on April 14 and the class 12 exams were postponed as the country witnessed a surge in COVID-19 cases. Class 12 students are currently waiting for the Board to make a decision on their examination. Last year, class 12 exams were postponed and later cancelled mid-way in March.
