As the rescue operations of the
five-storeyed building collapse in Maharashtra’s Raigad district were underway
on Tuesday, a 4-year-old boy was miraculously saved and rescued from under the
debris at the site of the collapsed building, after over 19 hours of the
incident.  

In the video shared by news agency
ANI, the little boy can be seen being carried on a stretcher and being rushed
towards an ambulance by the NDRF personnel.

The rescue personnel continued to
sift through the rubble in search of survivors, while police said 18 persons
are still missing.

NDRF officer Alok Kumar said, “We have recovered a body and have
rescued one child. As per official status from collector’s office, 17 more may
be feared trapped”.

An official at the Mantralaya State
Control Room of the State Disaster Management Unit told PTI, that the Tarek
Garden building collapsed at Kajalpura in Mahad tehsil around 7 pm.

There were around 40 flats in the
building, the official said, adding those rescued were shifted to a local
hospital at Mahad, which is around 170 km from Mumbai.

Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are at the
spot for rescue operations. Canine squads were also deployed at the scene of
the collapse, an official said.
