Saif Ali Khan, Indian actor and film producer, was awarded with India’s fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri in 2010. The actor was alleged to have bought the award from the Indian Government, which he refuted and said it was “beyond me to bribe the Government of India.”

In his appearance on a chat show, Pinch, hosted by Arbaaz Khan, Saif read a few mean comments about him from Twitter. One of which precisely alleged him of buying the Padma Shri award. “two-bit thug who bought a Padma Shri, named his son Taimur, beat up some people in a restaurant.”

The comment also questioned his acting skills in the Netflix series ‘Sacred Games’, saying he could ‘hardly act.’ To all these comments, he replied back saying, “So, two-bit thug, I am not. Everything else is true,” he laughed. Then, he added that it was beyond him to bride the Indian Government and if you want to know more, you would have to ask senior people about it, the interview is from 2019.

Here’s a glimpse of what he said on the chat show:

After it was announced that he was going to be awarded with Padma Shri, the actor said he was not ready to accept the award, stating that there were many deserving senior actors, adding that there were some actors at that time, who had the award before him and were less deserving too but uttered to not get into it.

While he wanted to return the award, he changed his mind because of something that his father, Mansoor Ali Pataudi told him, that he was not in a stature to refuse the government. He added that with time, he would try his best to justify the award given to him.

He added that, he was not done with acting yet and would surely make people feel one day that he deserves an honour.
