Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday staged a walkout of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and vowed to not step into the Assembly until he is elected again as the Chief Minister of the state.

On the first day of the current Assembly session, the Leader of the Opposition said he was pained by the continuous slur on him by the ruling YSR Congress members.

“For the last two and a half years, I have been bearing the insults but remained calm. Today, they have targeted even my wife. I was always lived with honour and for honour. I can take it no more,” Naidu said in the House.

Even as he continued to speak, Speaker Tammineni Seetaram cut the mike and the ruling party members started Naidu’s remarks a “drama”. Following this, Naidu vented his frustration when the two sides had a heated exchange of words during a short discussion on the farm sector.

The 71-year-old leader then staged a walkout and went on to announce that he will not enter the state assembly till he comes back to power.

Later, the former CM reportedly held an impromptu meeting with his party legislators in his chamber, where he reportedly broke down.

Addressing a press meet on Friday afternoon, the TDP leader broke down on live television while talking about some remarks made against his wife by the ruling party leaders. He said that in his entire political career, he had not seen such demeaning behaviour.

“For the last two-and-a-half years, I have been bearing the insults but remained calm. Today, they targeted even my wife. I always lived with honour and for honour. I can take it no more,” he was quoted by news agency PTI.
