Incessant rains in Madhya Pradesh‘s Ratlam since Sunday has created a flood-like situation in the region. Water is literally everywhere. Social media users have shared images and videos of flooded roads and other facilities on social media making Ratlam rains one of the trending topics on the microblogging platform, Twitter.

Videos and photos shared by Ratlam residents show vehicles and roads fully submerged in the water creating a flood-like situation in the area.

Another Twitter user shared a video from outside a hospital where people can be seen half deluged in water. The user blamed poor drainage in the city for the flood-like conditions and has informed that the nearby area, from hospital to markets is submerged in water making it difficult for people to travel.

Meanwhile, District Collector and Superintendent of Police SP Gaurav Tiwari have taken cognizance of the situation and the video from the ground has been shared on its official Twitter handle.

It has also been reported by local media that rail tracks have been flooded up to 3 feet due to heavy and continuous rains. The movement of trains came to a halt due to waterlogging in the railway tracks. The roads were also flooded due to heavy rains. Cars were seen floating on the roads like boats. 

According to local media, more than 6 inches of water has been logged in the region due to ineccesant rain in the last 24 hours. Water has also entered the 400-year-old ‘Khad-Ganesh’ Ukala Ganesh temple in Malwa.

In view of the flood-like situation in the city, the administration had opened two more gates of Dholawad Dam, reported local media.

According to the Meteorological Department, Ratlam has received a total of 36 inches of rain so far, which has exceeded the average rainfall figure. In view of the bad weather, an alert has been issued in Ratlam by the department.
