Peters registered throws of 90.54, 90.21 and 90.46 metres in his first three attempts, with his best being in the first.
Neeraj Chopra, on the other hand, began the day with a foul throw. However, he came back to produce a 82.39 metres throw in the second attempt. The Olympic gold medallist came up with his best throw in the fourth attempt, when he threw a distance of 88.13 metres, winning the silver.
