A video of the jam-packed audience stands collapsing, leaving several people injured is doing rounds on the social media. The incident took place in Telangana’s Suryapet during the inaugural day of the 47th Junior National Kabaddi Championship.

The exact reason behind the collapse is yet to be known. According to ANI, no deaths have been reported and injured are undergoing treatment, said Suryapet SP.

All the players and referees were safe. The tournament, scheduled to be played from March 22 to March 23, would decide future of Indian kabaddi. Defending champions Sports Authority of India (SAI) were playing against Bihar in the opening match in the Boys category while girls team of Haryana were to lock horns with Jammu and Kashmir.

The event was organised by Telangana Kabaddi Association, in association with Kabaddi Association of Suryapet District at SP Office grounds in Suryapet.
