While Rishabh Pant has upped his wicketkeeping skills over the years, the Delhi skipper on Thursday had a ‘brain-fade’ moment as missed a glaring run-out opportunity.

At the Wankhede, in the IPL encounter against Rajasthan Royals, while trying to run the batsman out, Pant broke the stumps with his hands, however, he had failed to gather the ball and ended up giving the batsman a reprieve.

The incident took place on the first ball of the 18th over, with the match seemingly getting out of Rajasthan’s hands as they needed 34 off just 18 delivers.

Trying to slog a good-length ball from Tom Curran, Chris Morris fluffed it to the deep mid-wicket area. Looking to sneak in a couple, Morris called for a run but then had a change of mind and sent his partner Jaydev Unadkat back, but the latter was already halfway down the pitch.

Desperately trying to save his wicket, Unadkat turned back, however, he slipped and the wicket was there for taking.

But, in a bizarre turn of events, as the outfield fielder threw the ball towards Pant, donning the gloves, the RC skipper quickly took off the balls, however, he failed to collect the ball before doing it.

Rajasthan then went on to win the match from an improbable situation and Pant will rue the missed chance.
