A two-day national mourning will be observed in India on the demise of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, official sources said on Sunday.

The national flag will fly at half mast, they said, adding that a state funeral will be accorded to her.

Mangeshkar, 92, died at a Mumbai hospital on Sunday.

Here are the last five times national mourning was observed in India:

Anerood Jugnauth’s death: India marked a national day of mourning on June 5, 2021 to pay respect to former Prime Minister of Mauritius Anerood Jugnauth. He died on June 3.

Manohar Parrikar’s death: A national mourning day in India was observed in India on March 18, 2019 to mark the death of former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. The BJP leader, who also served as the Defence Minister of India, died on March 17 in Panaji. 

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s death: India observed a seven-day national mourning to mark the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee. He died on August 16, 2018 at the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.

 M Karunanidhi’s death: National mourning day was observed in India on August 8, 2018 to pay respect to DMK chief M Karunanidhi. He died a day before in Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital.

APJ Abdul Kalam’s death: The Indian government announced a seven-day state mourning to mark the death of former President APJ Abdul Kalam. While the national flag was at half-mast on all the buildings, central offices were not shut. Kalam died on July 27, in Shillong.
