Indian actor Adarsh
Gourav, who has been nominated
for the leading actor category for ‘The White Tiger’ at the BAFTA , missed on an Oscar nomination on Monday. The film, directed by Ramin Bahrani, is an adaptation
of Aravind Adiga’s booker prize winning novel which goes by the same name. The film, however, has been nominated in Adapted Screenplay category.

Gourav’s character in the Netflix
movie ‘Balram’ is the protagonist, who works as an ambitious driver who tries to
escape his poverty-stricken life with his whip-smart acumen. The 26-year old
actor made his debut in Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘My Name Is Khan’ and went to
act in ‘Leila’. He is, however, best known for his role in the 2017 film ‘Mom’,
which also starred Srivedi.

Born in
Jamshedpur, the actor graduated from Mumbai’s Narsee Monjee and is also alumnus
of The Drama School in Mumbai. Apart from being a brilliant actor, Gourav is also
trained in Hindustani Music.

On BAFTA nomination, his co-star and executive producer
of the movie Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to Instagram to congratulate and applauded the actor.

“What a
proud moment for Indian talent with 2 BAFTA nominations for an ALL INDIAN STAR
CAST!! Ecstatic for you Gourav Adarsh, you are so deserving of this recognition,
and congratulation Ramin Bahrani, so well deserved,” she wrote.
