Devika Rani
was a popular Indian actress of her time who was mostly seen in Indian films during
the period of 1930s to 1940s.  She is also
known as first dream girl of Indian cinema. She was born on 30 March 1908 in
Visakhapatnam.  When it comes to the best
heroines of the century, Devika Rani’s name is taken with pride.  She was such an actress who broke many myths
and established the work and made her name in Indian cinema. 

In the era
when the women of India used to hide their faces in the veil even within the
boundary walls of the house, Devika Rani displayed indomitable courage by
working in films.  She will also be
remembered for her adorable beauty.

 Devika Rani was the first person who won the
first Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for the excellent contribution in the field of
cinema. In 1933, Devika Rani made her debut in films with the film Karma and in
this film she crossed all limits. She gave a four-minute long kissing scene at
a time when such scenes were not even shown in films. She was awarded the
Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the best performance.  The President of India presented the Padma
Shri award to Devika Rani in 1958.

 Devika was the great-granddaughter of Rani
Rabindranath Tagore.  Devika’s father
Colonel MN Choudheri was the first Surgeon General of Madras. She studied theatre
from London.  In  1929, she married film maker Himanshu Roy.

 Devika acted in a total of 15 films in her
career of ten years, but each of her films has showed actress classic acting.

Devika’s
films with depth of subject matter and social concerns set new values ​​and
benchmarks in the international and Indian film industry.  Embellished with epithets like the first
