Vedant Patel is the assistant to White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who praised him on Thursday, calling him "super-talented".
Psaki told reporters at a news conference, "I often joke with him (Vedant Patel) that we give him easy assignments. We did not. It's just because he's super talented", adding, "Vedant, I'll say about him, he's a beautiful writer. He's a fast writer. I don't know if that means he could be a wire reporter. I think he has a very promising career in government ahead of him", PTI reported.
Patel was present at the conference too. Born in Gujarat, Patel was raised in California. He had earlier tweeted that his family moved to the US in 1991. Patel graduated from the University of California, Riverside and earned his MBA degree from the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business. He's been assistant Press Secretary of the White House since the first day of the Joe Biden presidency.
Aged 32, Patel is popular at the White House among reporters. His desk is in the lower press office where Patel handles media questions on climate change and immigration.
He was a senior spokesperson at the Presidential Inauguration Committee and a regional communications director for the Biden campaign, before his current stint within the administration.
Patel began his career as deputy communications director for former Congressman Mike Honda, serving from December 2012 to November 2015. Then, he acted as Communications Director for Mike Honda for Congress from November 2015 to January 2017.
His next job was as regional press secretary and director of AAPI Media, where Patel worked from April 2017 to November 2018, and then became communications director to Indian American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal from November 2018 to April 2019.
Speaking of his time at the White House, Psaki also said Patel's contributions are "amazing" for "everything he does to help me, help all of us, help the President every day", PTI reported.
