Punjabi singer Diljaan Singh on Tuesday
died in a car accident on the Amritsar-Jalandhar National Highway. Singh, who hails
from Punjab’s Kartarpur, rose to fame in 2012 after winning ‘Sur
Kshetra’, a singing talent show between contestants from India and Pakistan.

Pitted against Pakistani singer Nabeel
Shaukat Ali, Singh emerged as a runner-up in the show, which saw celebrated
singers Himesh Reshamiya and Atif Islam appearing as judges. Diljaan also
participated in the show ‘Awaaz Punjab Di’.

Recently, the singer posted one of his
throwback pictures from Sur Kshetra alongside iconic singer Asha Bhonsle.

He was all set to release his new track
‘Tere Warga 2’, the poster to which the singer shared on his Instagram a few
days back.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh
too tweeted out on Tuesday, sending out his condolences to the ‘friends, family
and fans’ of Diljaan.

“Shocked at the tragic death of young
and promising Punjabi singer Diljaan in a road accident earlier today. It is
extremely sad to lose young lives like these on road. My condolences to the
family, friends and fans. RIP!”, Singh tweeted out.
