Celebrity fashion designer Prathyusha Garimella was found dead in her apartment in the upscale Hyderabad neighbourhood of Banjara Hills on May 12, 2022.

According to the reports citing the police, her body was found in the washroom of her apartment.

Several media outlets, citing the police, reported that a carbon monoxide cylinder had been found in the apartment which may have been used to commit suicide. Some reports also suggest that she was suffering from depression.

The police lodged a case of accidental death and launched an investigation.

Born to a well-to-do family, Garimella studied in the United Kingdom for her master’s degree, namely at the University of Warwick, following which she joined her father’s business, an LED manufacturing company.

However, she told Femina that it soon dawned upon her that working at an LED manufacturing firm was not her calling, and she founded her own label in 2013, Prathyusha Garimella, based out of Hyderabad.

According to her label’s website, “The Prathyusha Garimella label has carved an ethereal niche for itself complimenting the aesthetic aura of royal allure that the label embodies.”

As for the label’s offerings, the website says, “her designs are variegated to alluringly to alluringly blend contemporary silhouettes with intricate detailing using sequins, zardozi, and gota patti, thereby epitomizing a satorial regale.”

The label’s signature designs are “floor length anarkalis and lehengas” that are created in signature “pastel hues” and “embody a flowy touch.”

A self-taught fashion designer, Garimella ran a studio out of Banjara Hills and reportedly catered to high-profile clientele from Bollywood, Tollywood, and several other sectors.
