A%20jurist%20and%20the%20former%20Attorney%20General%20of%20India%2C%20Soli%20Sorabjee%20was%20honoured%20with%20the%20Padma%20Vibhushan%20for%20the%20defence%20of%20freedom%20of%20expression%20and%20his%20work%20in%20the%20field%20of%20human%20rights.
Born%20in%201930%20in%20Bombay%2C%20Sorabjee%20started%20his%20practice%20in%20the%20Bombay%20High%20Court%20in%201953.%20Designated%20to%20become%20a%20Senior%20Advocate%20by%20the%20Supreme%20Court%20in%201973%2C%20he%20had%20two%20stints%20as%20the%20Advocate%20General%2C%20from%201989-1990%20and%201998-2004.
Sorabjee%20was%20a%20known%20defender%20of%20the%20idea%20to%20protect%20last%20man%20existing%20in%20the%20social%20and%20economic%20hierarchy%20of%20the%20country.
Defending%20India%20against%20Pakistan%20in%201999%20in%20the%20International%20Court%20of%20Justice%2C%20he%20had%20emerged%20as%20the%20victor%20in%20the%20case.
After%20the%202008%20Mumbai%20Attacks%2C%20he%20had%20filed%20a%20Public%20Interest%20Litigation%20%28PIL%29%20to%20the%20Supreme%20Court%2C%20asking%20for%20the%20police%20forces%20to%20undergo%20training%20and%20be%20capable%20of%20dealing%20with%20any%20such%20attacks%20in%20the%20future.
He%20is%20survived%20by%20his%20wife%2C%20a%20daughter%20and%20two%20sons.
