BJP politician and actor Sonali Phogat passed away after a heart attack on Monday night.

Phogat ran against Kuldeep Bishnoi, who had recently moved from the Congress party to the BJP, in the Punjab Assembly elections from the Adampur seat.

The 41-year-old leader had Monday complained of discomfort to her staff before being transported to the hospital.

The postmortem is currently being performed, and the neighbourhood police are en route to the hospital. The actor was in Goa for a shoot for two days.

Who was Sonali Phogat?

Popular Tik Tok personality Phogat made an appearance in Bigg Boss 14 as well. Before she passed away, she published a video to her Instagram account. She also updated her Twitter profile image simultaneously.

She had run against Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Congress for the Adampur seat in the Haryana Assembly elections.

Phogat joined the BJP Working Committee while pursuing a career in television after beginning her career as an anchor for Hisar Doordarshan. Following this, Phogat gave up her job as an anchor to work in TV specials and serials alongside actors like Jimmy Shergill and Ravi Kishan.

Sonali Phogat also had a significant part in the Zee TV television series Amma. Phogat most recently made an appearance on Indian television in season 14 of Bigg Boss.

“I have learnt about the sad demise of Sonali Phogat.” said BJP state president Om Prakash Dhankar. “It is really sad news.”

BJP’s Hisar district president Capt Bhupender stated, “She was with some of her associates in Goa. We heard about an hour ago that she suffered a cardiac-arrest and passed away in the wee hours. Certain formalities are being completed there at Goa, after which her body shall be brought to Haryana.”

Shortly after Phogat’s death, her family demanded a CBI probe saying that something wasn’t adding up. Her family has alleged that the associates that she has travelled to Goa with had a hand in her death.
