Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa’s 30-year-old granddaughter Soundarya was allegedly found hanging at a private apartment in Bengaluru on Friday morning.

The suicide came to light after a domestic worker called Soundarya’s husband Dr Neeraj as she was not answering the doorbell.

Soundarya’s body has been taken to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in the city for postmortem.

Soundarya, daughter of the BJP leader’s second daughter Padmavathi, was married to Dr Neeraj S, who works in the same hospital, in 2018, police said.

Soundarya tied the knot with Dr. Neeraj in 2018. She was a practicing doctor and had given birth to her first child four months ago. She reportedly had shown signs of post-pregnancy depression, India Today reported, quoting sources.

On Friday morning, Neeraj left for the duty at around 8 AM and it is suspected that she ended her life two hours later.

The matter came to light when the maid came to the house and knocked on the door repeatedly but in vain.

She informed Dr Neeraj, who too called her on phone but there was no response, the police said, adding, the door was then opened by force.

The body was later shifted to the Bowring Hospital where the post-mortem was performed.
