Ziona Chana, who is believed to head the world%u2019s largest family, died at a hospital in Mizoram on Sunday at the age of 76. 

An official of the Aizawl district administration told local media that Chana was unwell since June 7 and was admitted to the hospital a few days back after his condition deteriorated.

Chief Minister Zoramthanga offered his condolences, tweeting, %u201CWith heavy heart, #Mizoram bid farewell to Mr. Zion-a (76), believed to head the world’s largest family. Mizoram and his village at Baktawng Tlangnuam has become a major tourist attraction in the state because of the family. Rest in Peace Sir!%u201D

Who was Ziona Chana?

He was the leader of Chana pawl, a Christian sect that allowed its male members to be polygamous. 

Ziona had 39 wives and 94 children. He also had 14 daughters-in-law, 33 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. All of them live in a 100-room, four-storey house in Mizoram.
