US Presidential Democrat candidate Joe Biden will make a choice for his Vice President pick ahead of the Democratic National Convention which is scheduled on August 17. Biden, the former vice president to Barack Obama, has promised that he would choose a woman to join his ticket challenging Republican President Donald Trump in the November 3 election. The choice of a running mate has added significance this year because of Biden’s age as he turns 78 on November 20 and would be the oldest man ever to assume the office if he defeats Trump, as polls predict.
A lot of buzz has been around the probable pick for the US Vice President with about a dozen names being discussed. Here are the names of some of current top contenders who the Democrat candidate might chose:
1. Kamala Harris: Harris, serving as a junior senator since 2017, is daughter of a Jamaican-born father and Indian-born mother. She has served as a district attorney in San Francisco before becoming attorney general of California. She was elected to the Senate in 2016, and was the first woman of South Asian heritage to get there.
