Former India cricketer Suresh Raina, who retired from International cricket last year, made a comeback in domestic cricket in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, he decided to withdraw from the Vijay Hazare trophy.

While the reason for Raina‘s withdrawal from the Uttar Pradesh squad is still unknown, it can be assumed that poor form as well as concentrating on the T20 format ahead of the IPL can be a reason behind it.

In the Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Raina was able to score only 102 runs in five innings. Since Vijay Hazare is of 50-overs, the Chennai Super Kings player might be concentrating on his T20 form, as the IPL 2021 is nearing.

Raina had pulled out of IPL 2020, citing personal reasons despite being a key member to the squad. Since he was retained by the franchise for the upcoming season, a good performance is expected from him.
