Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement from
International cricket on Saturday evening in an Instagram post. Although the announcement
was low-key, a way that Dhoni prefers, the shockwaves of the news rattled every
Indian cricket fans. Among all the wishes that Dhoni received on social media,
Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet stood one. The tweet itself could be constituted as a
message from one maestro to another.

“Your contribution to Indian cricket has been immense.
Winning the 2011 World Cup together has been the best moment of my life.
Wishing you and your family all the very best for your 2nd innings,” tweeted
Tendulkar with an image of Dhoni and himself.
Tendulkar was part of the Indian team that lifted the World
Cup after a long wait of 28 years. While Indian opener Gautam Gambhir stitched
the innings beautifully, bringing India one step closer to lifting the title,
Dhoni hit the winning shot as the ball soared over the boundary.

Tendulkar was given a lap of honour by his teammates as this
was the only chance for the right-handed batsman to win the World Cup.
For Tendulkar, the 2011 final and lifting the World Cup, was
indeed his best moment of his life, as he has mentioned in the tweet.

Cup match against New Zealand.
