Yasin Malik, a Kashmiri separatist leader and the chief of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), was sentenced to life in prison in connection with a terror funding case by a Delhi court on Wednesday.

Here is a list of the 56-year-old’s fines and punishments-

1. Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) – 10 years of incarceration and a penalty of Rs. 10,000. If Malik fails to pay the fine, he will have to spend six additional months in prison. 

2. Section 121 of IPC – Life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000. Non-payment of fine will lead to six additional months of being jailed. 

3. Section 121A of IPC – A decade in prison and a fine of Rs. 10,000. If not paid, six additional months in jail.

4. Section 13 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) read with Section 120B of IPC – Five years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5,000. Non-payment will result in three additional months in prison.

5. Section 15 of UAPA read with Section 120B of IPC – A decade of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 10,000. In case of non-payment, Malik will serve six additional months in prison. 

6. Section 17 of UAPA – Life imprisonment and a hefty fine of Rs. 10 lakh. Failure to make payment will result in two-and-a-half additional years in jail.

7. Section 18 of UAPA – A decade of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000. Six additional months in jail if the fine is not paid.

8. Section 20 of UAPA – A decade in jail and Rs.10,000 fine. Non-payment will lead to six additional months in jail.

9. Section 38 of UAPA – Five years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 5,000 fine. Three additional months in jail if the fine is not paid.

10. Section 39 of UAPA – Five years of imprisonment along with a Rs. 5,000 fine. Failure to pay the fine will result in three additional months in prison.
