- Chennai Super Kings are set to face Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday
- The Chennai side lost to Rajasthan Royals, chasing a mammoth total of 217
- The Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi side won their first match in the most dramatic fashion against Kings XI Punjab
“Why did MS Dhoni not bat up the order?”. “Is Dhoni underestimating himself?”. These were the questions that haunted the Chennai Super King's faithfuls after their loss against Rajasthan Royals.
The Chennai outfit, chasing a target of 217, could only amass 200/6 from their 20 overs. With this, the Dhoni-led side has a record of a solo win and a loss from two matches. Next up they face Delhi Capitals.
On the other end, DC grabbed a dramatic victory from the jaws of defeat in a match against King XI Punjab, which was packaged with a controversial umpiring decision, an extraordinary Super Over and some impressive bit of cricket.
Since 2008, CSK has faced the Delhi-based franchise 21 times and holds an impressive 15-6 advantage.
Here we take a look at the Dream 11 fantasy team of the day:
WICKETKEEPERS:
MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant
In spite of all the cloud that surrounds his name, the Chennai skipper showed a bit of his signature batting prowess in the game against RR. He looks to be getting in the groove and can score handy points for your fantasy teams.
With his 31 off 29 balls, Rishabh Pant looked in good nick. Suitors will be pretty much be hoping for the same and a lot more come Friday.
BATSMEN:
Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis
Prithvi Shaw is immensely talented and there no two ways about it. However, the Indian youngster has failed to capitalise on most occasions and even in the last match. But it’s too early to write him off. Leading the side, Iyer played a pivotal knock of 39 off 32 balls in the first match.
If there was any hope for CSK to chase down Rajasthan’s mammoth total, that came in the shape of Faf du Plessis. The South African veteran scored a fighting 72 off 37 balls and he will be our vice-captain for the match.
ALL-ROUNDERS:
Marcus Stoinis and Sam Curran
The Australian all-rounder was in sensational form against Kings XI Punjab, as he clobbered the ball for a quickfire 53 from 21 balls. Although a bit costly, Stoinis grabbed two wickets, including Mayank Agarwal’s.
This could be an absolute punt but our fantasy armband will be donned by Sam Curran. The Englishman has looked in fine form both with the leather and the willow.
BOWLERS:
Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra and Deepak Chahar
Against KXIP, Rabada hardly put a step wrong. He scalped two wickets in his four overs and then bowled one of the most bizarre Super Overs to limit the Punjab side to a meagre 2 runs.
Ashwin is in doubt for the CSK match and Amit Mishra could quickly snap up his spot. The wily fox is the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament’s history and could thrive on these pitches. However, it’s a bit of a risk and if you’re not in for it, then go for the safer choice in Lungi Ngidi.
Captain: Sam Curran
Vice-captain: Faf du Plessis
