Popular South actress Samantha Akkineni, who made her Bollywood debut with ‘The Family Man 2’, received huge appreciation for her performance in the series. Her role as Rajalakshmi Sekaran aka Raji, a rebel in the thriller crime series, was highly applauded.
The Manoj Bajpayee starrer show is getting appreciation from the fans and critics for great script and performances. However, the series received a fair amount of backlash too before its release for allegedly showing Eelam Tamils in a poor light.
Samantha, who essayed the role of a rebel Tamil, disabled comments on her 'The Family Man 2' post amid the controversy and now it is said that the actor won’t do any more web shows.
A source very close to the actress was quoted by a media portal saying, “Right now she is off the media and just chilling at home with her husband Nag Chaitanya and his family. There are no plans of doing another web series anytime soon. Sam agreed to do 'The Family Man' because of co-directors Raj Nidimoru and DK’s persuasive powers and because she had wanted to play the bad girl for the longest.”
In ‘The Family Man 2’, Samantha is seen as a Tamil soldier of an organisation allegedly modelled on the LTTE that was involved in the decades-long Sri Lankan civil war.
After the trailer was released, netizens trended hashtags like ‘Family Man 2 against Tamils’. Two politicians, NTK founder Seeman and Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko have also expressed their displeasure on the show and demanded its ban.
