Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Tuesday that Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya gave his assent to the bill providing 75% reservation in the private sector to job seekers from the state, reported PTI. Here is everything to know about the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, 2020:

  • The Bill will provide quota for local people in the state in private sector jobs that offer a salary of less than Rs 50,000 a month.
  • According to the Haryana State Employment of Local Candidates Bill, the quota will initially apply for 10 years.
  • According to the state government, in addition to tackling unemployment among local people, the Bill will discourage the influx of migrants seeking low-paid jobs.
  • In the Bill, local candidates are defined as those domiciled in the state. A person needs to be born in Haryana or has lived there for at least 15 years in order to be considered domicile.
  • The Bill not only covers private companies, societies, trusts and partnership firms in the state but also provides for training to eligible local candidates when qualified people are not available

Dushyant Chautala’  Jannayak Janta Party,  which is the BJP’s coalition partner in Haryana had announced the reservation as a key poll promise last year.
