The death of a 26-year-old South Korean actor Song Yoo-Jung, on Saturday, added another name to the list of celebrities in the country, who died young, initiating conversations around surging suicide cases in the country.

As soon as the news broke on Monday in an Instagram post by Jung’s agency Sublime Artist, it caused a wave of gloom among fans of K-drama who took to Twitter to mourn the actor’s tragic demise.

Song started her career as a model for a cosmetic company at the age of 20. In a short span of her acting career, Song appeared in many Korean dramas and commercials.

However, her breakthrough came in 2019 when her web series, 'Dear My Name' became a hit among the people. Besides being an actor, she was also an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.

Song Yoo-Jung was also the ambassador for a South Korean group called Warm Accompaniment.
