TV anchor Kelly Ripa and actor husband Mark Consuelos saw their youngest son off to college and they might just be a little bit sad. The Live! With Kelly & Ryan host and the Riverdale actor dropped their son Joaquin Consuelos off at college over the weekend.

The couple took a photograph together that Kelly Ripa posted on her Instagram account on August 29, 2021. She captioned it,  "So far we are crushing this empty nest thing," along with a sad face and spiral eyes emojis. Their eldest, Michael, also commented on the post and wrote, "I almost had no doubt."

Joaquin seems to have scored a spot on the wrestling team at the University of Michigan, as far as his Instagram account indicated. Looks like the 18-year-old has things set in motion. His two siblings: older brother, Michael, did his graduation from New York University last year and sister, Lola, 20, is all set to kickstart her junior year at the same university this year. While his parents might be a tad bit sad to see their kids leave home for higher studies and work, Joaquin is pretty excited about embarking on his education journey.

In March, he commented on the announcement done by his school regarding his entry in the team, "Super excited to step into this next chapter with @umichwrestling! Honored to be part of this great program."

Mark Consuelos was recently seen in an episode of Riverdale solely dedicated to the backstory of his character named Hiram Lodge. Interestingly, his son Michael played young Hiram and nailed the portrayal with his spot-on resemblance with his father and surprisingly good acting skills.

I have a hard time watching myself; I saw a little bit of a rough cut, but it’s going to be a total surprise to see the finished product when everyone else does,” he has said a few days before the episode’s launch.
