KL Rahul breaks Sachin Tendulkar's eight-year-old IPL record

KL Rahul has been making all the right moves in the last 12 months. For his consistent performances, he has been rewarded with a permanent place in the Indian playing XI. He has also been awarded the captaincy of the IPL side Kings XI Punjab.
On Thursday, as the Kings XI Punjab faced Royal Challengers Bangalore, KL Rahul added another feather to his cap. He completed 2000 runs in the Indian Premier League.

The 28-year-old brought up the landmark in 60 innings, the fastest by an Indian batsman in the IPL. The record was previously held by Sachin Tendulkar, who had reached the milestone in 63 innings in 2013.
The record for the fastest 2000 runs in the IPL is held by Rahul's KXIP teammate, Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat in 48 innings.

In their opening encounter, Kings XI Punjab were hit with a controversial 'short run' which took the match into a Super Over. Delhi Capitals went on to win the game in the Super Over. KXIP went on to lodge an appeal to the match referee over the incident but on Thursday, KL Rahul and Co would like forget the unsavoury incident and focus on the task ahead.
