Friends are an irreplaceable part of your life, they are very precious but at the same time, they can be genuinely annoying. Although very funny or childish sometimes your best friends’ habits can drive you insane. However, tiresome your friends’ habits are, these habits somehow make your friendship special and cherished. Friendship evolves throughout our lives, some friends stay, some drift apart leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever life’s incomplete without them.

Did you know that National Friendship Day was originally a marketing strategy for Hallmark Cards in the early 1930? Joyce Hall, founder of Hallmark Cards assigned a particular day to celebrate people that were closest to you and mattered the most. In the year 1935, the United States Congress announced that the first Sunday of every August will be an official holiday to celebrate our loved ones. In 1998, the United Nations (UN) named Winnie the Pooh as the ambassador of friendship. And in 2011, the UN officially declared July 30 as International Friendship Day.

On this friendship day here is a quick list of annoying habits of our friends:

Being late

Indians are known for being late and our friends are no exception to that. When a group of friends plan a meeting, there will be at least one friend who will be late. When you call this friend to inquire when they will reach. They will give a standard answer “I will be there in ten minutes.” This friend might have woken up only after receiving the call. And by now we all know that ten minutes is equal to an hour or even more.

Borrowing stuff and never returning them

Indian friends take “Jo tera hai woh mera hai (whatever is yours is also mine)” very seriously. When we ‘borrow’ something from our friends, we now like to believe that object now belongs to us.

Exaggerating

We all love to share even the dullest story with our friends but with a lot of exaggeration to make the story more fun. I am sure all of us are guilty of exaggerating sometimes even adding fake situations, people or expressions just to make the story more fun.

Sharing embarrassing photos on social media

With the trend of posting birthday wishes on social media, we are excited for our friends’ birthday only to post old and embarrassing photos of theirs. These photos were either clicked when they were sleeping, eating or just talking. But they turn out to be the most treasured photos.

Cancelling plans at the last minute

By now you must have lost count on how many times your Goa trip was cancelled because of that one friend who cancels plans at the last minute either because their parents didn’t allow it or for some other silly reasons.
