Here are some things to keep in mind while washing hands, according to UNICEF.

How to wash hands properly: Wet hands in running water and then apply soap. Scrub well, making sure to scrub the back of the hand, the front, between fingers, in creases and under the nails. Then, rinse and use something clean to wipe the hands.

How long to wash: Hands
should be washed for at least 20 seconds with the help of soap and water. Children can to sing the “happy birthday to you” song twice in that time.

How to use sanitizer: The same 20-second rule applies. Rub sanitizer with at least 60 per cent alcohol into your hands for at least 20 seconds.

The same goes for hand sanitizer: use a sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol and rub it into your hands for at least 20 seconds to ensure full coverage.

When to wash hands: Several times a day. Wash your hands if you cough or sneeze or blow your nose. Also when you have been in a public place or used public transport; after touching surfaces outside home, including money; while caring for a sick person and before and after eating. Also, after using the bathroom and touching pets and animals.

If our hands are not washed, we become vulnerable to many diseases.  This includes
coronavirus, worms in the stomach, hepatitis A, food poisoning, diseases
related to hands, mouth and feet and diseases related to the lungs as well.
