A group of lawyers filed a lawsuit against music producer and DJ Lorin Ashton, famously known as Bassnectar and his management companies on Monday for alleged sexual abuse and human trafficking.

After a series of allegations of abuse and sexual misconduct last year, the lawsuit was filed by Nashville attorney Phillip Miller, Philadelphia attorneys Stewart Ryan, Brian Kent, and Laffey, Bucci & Kent’s Alexandria MacMaster, reported EDM.

The group of attorneys also named companies associated with Bassnectar. These included Interactive Giving Fund, Redlight Management, Inc., Amorphous Music, Inc., Bassnectar Touring, Inc., and C3 Presents.

He is accused of “engaging in a human trafficking venture” and notes that the DJ faces allegations of “manufacturing and possessing child pornography,” as per the press release.

Bassnectar formally announced a music hiatus in June 2020.

Previously, he had issued an official statement denying the allegations on Twitter.

“The rumours of sexual misconduct that are circulating about me are completely untrue. I want to leave it at that, because it truly is that simple,” he wrote as reported by EDM.

Attorney Brian Kent in his statement regarding the lawsuit said, “We have seen a true reckoning in recent years of powerful individuals and institutions finally being held to account for years of sexual abuse against adults and minors.”

“But we have only begun to scratch the surface of how these influential figures and entities can go on for years committing abuses without being held responsible,” he explained.

He added, “This lawsuit is about seeking justice not just against Bassnectar but against the corporations that cooperate in and help facilitate the abuses he is alleged to have committed.”

Filed on behalf of two female plaintiffs, the lawsuit says that the victims were “sexually abused as minors” and accuses the music producer and his associate companies of “grooming, abuse, and trafficking”. The evidence to these incidents were documented on an Instagram account, @evidenceagainstbassnectar, reported EDM.
