Buying furniture or art pieces at an auction is a very common practice but have you ever thought of purchasing jewellery from such events? An expert suggests that you can find the rarest vintage pieces from an auction, which you won’t often get in renowned retail stores too.

However, while buying a jewellery piece there are few things one needs to keep in mind as one small mistake and you will end up getting your hands on an average piece that might not be as valuable as you want that to be.

Suneel Kurudi, CEO Cymmon’s Auctioneers LLP- a full scale auction house founded by avid art collector Krishna Mooolagundam, lists down some tips for Opoyi readers

  •  Jewellery that has rare and natural gemstones and Diamonds in it.
  • Jewellery that has a history to talk about and are all sold in the auction.
  • Auction houses do appraise the value of such jewellery by considering all historical facts.
  • Rarity of the gemstones or Diamonds and the uniqueness of the making style’
  • As for diamonds, choose over one carat, uncut, higher clarity, lesser flaws, and unusual colours.
  • Vintage jewellery is the most sought after due to its uniqueness and authenticity.

He also says that choosing pieces that will retain their value for a long time for example a particular piece of jewellery might seem trendy for that time but in a few years, when it goes out of fashion, you would not fancy to wear it.
