To bring us respite from the scorching summer heat, the much-awaited monsoon is finally here. However much we love all that the monsoon brings, it does not sit well with our skincare routine unless we make some tweaks to it.

Here are some tips to breeze through this weather

1: Water-based products only

The main difference between winter and summer creams is that the latter absorbs better and faster into our skin. This is the time to move the oil-based products at the back and opt for water-based ones. Due to the humidity in the air, our skin will easily agree with the water-based products and it will comfortably sink into the skin.

2: SPF is your best friend

We need to protect our skin from UVB and UV rays that can easily harm us even when we are at home. Hence it is crucial to apply SPF right after you moisturize and to reapply it every three hours.

Sunscreens are possibly the most crucial part of any skincare.

3: Embrace chemical exfoliation

Yes! this would involve putting chemicals on your face but even water or moisturizers are chemicals. The new trend of chemical exfoliation has finally reached the Indian markets and it is time to embrace it.

Over a month’s time, our skin cells typically regenerate. However, sun exposure and aging can slow this process. Through chemical exfoliation, we can easily get rid of the layer of dead skin by using acid on our face. Weaker formulas are available in the market while the stronger ones are done by a dermatologist called a ‘chemical peel’.

Believe it or not, the acids used in chemical exfoliation are much more gentle on the skin than a physical exfoliator. Moreover, since the chemical exfoliator goes deeper into the skin is more effective.
