Dewald
Brevis. This is the new name making rounds on the internet ahead of the Indian
Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction after a boy donning an old Royal Challengers
Bangalore (RCB) jersey went viral. There is also a video where he is heard
talking about his love for IPL and named his favourite franchise and
cricketers.

The
video was shared during the ongoing U-19 World Cup in the West Indies. South
Africa’s Brevis said he is a big fan of the IPL and wants to play for RCB in
the T20 league as his favourite cricketers Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers play
for this franchise.

“For
me one of the biggest dream is to play for the Proteas. I’m such a big fan of
IPL and I would love to play the IPL for RCB. I love RCB because Virat Kohli
and AB de Villiers was there. I’m big fan of Virat Kohli and AB de
Villiers,” he said.

Brevis
has been one of the most talked-about cricketers in the U-19 World Cup 2022
after cricket pundits found striking similarities between his batting technique
and that of South African legend De Villiers, hence fans named him ‘Baby AB’.

In
South Africa, Brevis played for the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies) in
school cricket and coincidentally, it is the same school from where his
inspiration AB de Villiers had done his schooling.

runs averaging 90 and a strike rate of 86 and currently, he remains the leading
run-scorer of the 2022 U19 World Cup. Brevis can also round his arm as a
spinner. He picked up six wickets in the U-19 World Cup.

In
four matches, the youngster slammed a century and three half-centuries. 65
against India, 104 against Uganda, 96 against Ireland and 97 against England
were his tally of the last four matches.
