The Met Gala 2021 official kicked off late on Monday night with celebrities gracing the red carpet with their gorgeous and often unique outfits. However, a few of the biggest stars are set to give the "fashion's biggest night out" a miss.
This year's connected exhibit comes in two parts: Part one is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion," and will open on September 18. Part two comes next May, when the 2022 Met Gala will occur.
Let's take a look at a few of the massive Hollywood names who won't be walking the carpet this time around, some because of shooting commitments, some to avoid getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
The news that Zendaya wasn't going to make his Met Gala appearance was confirmed a few days back, however, fans haven't still processed the absence completely. The 'Dune' actor has dazzled the Met Gala carpet year after year but she will miss the 2021 edition because she's filming the second season of the critically-acclaimed show "Euphoria."
"I will be on Euphoria," Zendaya shared in a recent interview. "My fans are very upset with me. I will unfortunately not be able to attend because I'll be working for Euphoria. I wish I could, especially since this fashion icon [Timothee Chalamet] is going to be hosting."

2. Dua Lipa
Popstar Dua Lipa became the talk of the town after smashing the charts with her 2020 single 'Future Nostalgia,' but she won't be celebrating her milestone at Met Gala 2021.
The British musician is currently filming her acting debut — Matthew Vaughn's multi-starrer thriller 'Argylle,' which also features Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, John Cena and Samuel L. Jackson.
3. Kylie Jenner
While the other celebs have come out with official statements for missing out on the gala, Kylie Jenner, a frequent Met Gala attendee, have been hush about missing this year's event. "I'm so sad i couldn't make it this year. i can't wait to see all the looks," she wrote on Instagram on September 13.
She didn't go into detail about the reason behind her absence.
But she albeit has a lot on her plate as she is expecting another baby with rapper Travis Scott.
4. Nicki Minaj
In probably the most bizarre reason on the list, rapper and singer Nicki Minaj revealed on Monday that she won't be gracing the Met Gala this year as she doesn't want to take COVID-19 vaccination shots just for the event without doing "enough research."
Minaj, on her official Twitter profile, wrote: They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe."
