Met Gala is unarguably one of the biggest fashion events of the year. It began in 1948 as a fundraising dinner for The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Cher

Cher made an entry at the 1985 Gala with designer and friend Bob Mackie in an 80s look. Her blue shadow and rose-pink lipstick stole the show.

Kim Kardashian 

Kim Kardashian bared it all in the 2019 Met Gala. Her Thierry Mugler dress gave an illusion of being wet with well-placed crystals. Her hair swept into a wave kicked off the wet look trend that still makes appearances in award shows and events. 

Rihanna

Rihanna showcased the work of Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo in the 2019 Met Gala. Enhanced by her top knot, her blush moment on the red carpet went viral and for all the right reasons.

Zendaya

Zendaya in the 2018 Met Gala came dressed up doing full justice to the theme “Heavenly Bodies”. Her outfit was built around Catholic iconography as she turned up as Joan of Arc herself, sporting a red wig and chunky chainmail.

Beyonce

Beyonce stole the show in the 2014 Met Gala with her super-sleek side part and a fishnet veil that went perfectly with her fishnet gown.  Her deep oxblood lipstick enhanced the look all the more. 

As the Met Gala prepares to make a return for 2021, after having bee cancelled in 2020, the soiree is all ready to be hosted by poet Amanda Gorman, singer Billie Eilish, actor Timothee Chalamet and tennis player Naomi Osaka. This year's theme is In America: a Lexicon of Fashion, celebrating America’s culture and identity.
