A Chinese man’s search of 24 years for his son, who was kidnapped from outside in Shandong province, ended this week. Guo Gangtang’s son was kidnapped when he was just two years and five months old. Guo Gangtang spent 24 years searching for his son, for which he travelled more than 300,000 miles, across the nation while chasing tip-offs of his son’s whereabouts.

Guo, 51, met with several accidents, broke many bones and was even robbed on highways while he searched for his lost son over the year. He damaged 10 motorbikes in the journey, and spend all his life’s savings searching for his son.

Guo Gangtang and his wife were reunited with their son, who is now 26, after police said their DNAs matched, said China’s public security ministry.

The scene, which was all over social media, shows the trio clung to each other tearfully at a news conference in Liaocheng on Sunday.

Guo’s wife, Zhang Wenge sobbed while embracing his son and said, “My darling, my darling, my darling.”

“We found you, my son, my son,” she added.

While Guo, trying to comfort his wife, said, “He’s been delivered into your hands, so you need to love him well.”

The Guo family’s reunion was reported across the country, The Guardian said.

“Now that the child has been found, everything can only be happy from now on,” 51-year-old Guo told reporters.

The ministry of public security on Tuesday said that traffickers had snatched the boy 24 years ago and sold him to a family in Central China.

When China had implemented the draconian one-child policy, kidnapping and child trafficking became widespread in the nation in the 1980s.

According to BBC, in 2015, it was estimated that every year nearly  20,000 children are abducted in China and sold into adoption.
