Hatsune Miku, who is portrayed in pop culture as a 16-year-old with turquoise hair, and Akihiko Kondo, 38, dated for a decade before they held an unofficial wedding ceremony in 2018. Kondo, who is one of many “fictosexuals,” or those who are sexually attracted to fictional characters, spent 2 million yen ($17,300) on his wedding, although his family was not present.

Kondo first resorted to Hatsune Miku in 2008 after being bullied at work. The couple had an unofficial wedding in 2008.

Thanks to Gatebox, his bond with Miku grew in 2017. Kondo was allowed to propose to Miku by the machine, and he invited his family and coworkers to the event, but none of them showed up. Strangers and internet friends, some of whom are also “fictosexual,” made up 39 of the attendees.

Someone who is sexually attracted to fictional characters is known as a fictosexual. While some relationships are merely for entertainment, Kondo’s is extremely real to him. Because of his overwhelming connection to characters like Miku, a popular figure in anime and Japanese culture, he claimed for a long time that he knew a human spouse wasn’t for him. Miku debuted in public media as a human, albeit fictionalised, character in Manga, anime series, and video games after being created as a synthesised voice utilising Yamaha’s Vocaloid technology. She eventually rose to prominence, touring with Lady Gaga on her Artpop Ball tour in 2014.
