One of the most important rules for those who fight for animal rights is, “Buy, do not adopt.” Footballers in Romania have come up with an innovative way to ensure more and more people adopt dogs. With their new campaign, “Fill the void in your life,” Romanian Football League players are promoting adoption of rescue dogs, by bringing them onto the field!

The Romanian Football Federation seeks to promote adoption of rescue dogs that are left abandoned throughout Romania. The federation hopes to encourage dog lovers to adopt from public shelters as well.

The players will walk onto the field, holding the rescue dogs in their arms. The dogs will have their name tags attached to a scarf around their necks, and a leash. Any interested viewer can then contact the authorities and adopt a furry friend, without any problems in identification.

Not only are the rescue dogs vaccinated and dewormed, they have also been sterilised and are completely ready to join their forever homes.

The Football Federation has made this initative not just a one-off ceremony, but year-long project. All 16 teams in the League 1 will open every match with this adorable procession of rescue puppies. Viewers will be able to adopt their favourite dogs as soon as the match is over.
