Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the homecoming of a stray dog who had been missing for a week from his Mumbai neighbourhood. Whiskey, the lovable stray dog, was greeted with an aarti, cookies, and flowers, as shown in an emotional film that has gone viral online.

According to the Instagram post “Street Dogs Of Bombay,” Whiskey lived in the Naigaon neighbourhood of Dadar in Mumbai, where neighbours used to look after him. On February 8, a stray dog went missing in Prabhadevi, and a search was initiated to find him. Concerned neighbours also launched a social media effort to track down Whiskey, which lasted a week until the dog was discovered near Wilson College in South Mumbai.

After being located around seven kilometres away, the dog is transported back to his neighbourhood in a cab in heartwarming footage. People waited for Whiskey at numerous buildings across the neighbourhood, with some hanging out on their balconies to see his return.

The video, which was published on Instagram by Street Dogs Of Bombay, shows Whiskey’s homecoming being met with applause. A woman was videotaped doing a tiny aarti to welcome the dog, while another person handed flowers for Whiskey. On social media, the video has been seen and shared tens of thousands of times.

“This is so much pleasure and genuine love,” one commenter said. “This is really wonderful,” commented another.
