Fruit chai, anyone? A vendor in Surat, Gujarat, has taken on the challenge to give your everyday cup of tea a new twist. The beverage was being sold with an assortment of shredded and diced fruits infused in it before being strained and put in a glass.

The vendor can be seen adding chunks of apple, banana, kiwi, zapota (chikoo) into the boiling pot of tea.

The video, which is uploaded by famous food blogger @foodieincarnate, took social media by storm and seemed to outrage people about the new food innovations. While some social media users said that such bizarre food combinations should not even exist, others took a funnier tone and said that the beverage in the video looked like fruit custard, not tea.

Another social media user wrote, “Like seriously, this food modernisation is leading us to big problems, and disease. These unmatched food natures and food combinations will seriously cause big problems.”

“Please do not try this at home. It is dangerous for health”, the user added.

The video had accumulated more than 61,000 likes and nearly 9,00,000 views in less than a day.

Food blogger Amar Sirohi, who managed the Instagram page, is often seen going on food adventures and trying new food combinations. These range from trying ‘Neem Kachori’ in Shikohabad to ‘Kurkure Chaat’ in Nagpur.

Meanwhile, such bizarre food combinations that combine contrasting snacks are being sold on the street. These include dishes like ‘Maggi milkshake’, ‘Mango icecream chaat with cheese’, ‘Fanta omlette’, ‘Rasgulla chaat’, ‘Oreo pakoda’, ‘Mirchi ice cream roll’, ‘Butter chicken roll’.
