An Alaska resident found a newborn baby abandoned in a cardboard box on the roadside with a note from his mother claiming she did not have food or money to look after the infant.

Roxy Lane, from Fairbanks, discovered the baby on Saturday and alerted the Alaska State Troopers, who arrived at the scene and rushed him to a local hospital for treatment.

In a statement, the authorities said there was a note left with the baby “indicating the parent could not take care [of] it.”

Meanwhile, Lane shared a video on her Facebook handle featuring the note and the newborn.

“Today I found an abondaned [sic] newborn in a cardboard [box] at the row of mailboxes by my house. I’ve been processing my feelings all day and running through all the different scenarios and reasons, with my bf and family, as to why something like this could have happened,” she wrote.

The note implied the mother of the newborn was in a desperate situation.

“Please help me!!! I was born today on December 31, 2021 [at] 6 a.m. I was born 12 weeks premature. My mom was 28 weeks when she had me,” the note read.

Noting that his “parents and grandparents don’t have food or money to raise me,” the note added, “They NEVER wanted to do this to me.”

“My mom is so sad to do this. Please take me and find me a LOVING FAMILY. My parents are begging whoever finds me,” the note concluded.
