A routine fishing trip ended in the hospital after a weird accident nearly choked a man to death.

The anonymous Thai angler needed surgery after his catch jumped out of the water and went directly down his throat.

The spiky Anabas fish did not become entangled in the fisherman’s spike. Instead, it jumped out of the water and right into his mouth.

When the accident took place, the man was spike-fishing with a harpoon underneath the surface of the water.

The man was hustled to Phatthalung Provincial Hospital as he was unable to breathe properly due to the fish deposited in his throat.

Doctors conducted some quick scans and discovered that the fish had squirmed up through the fisherman’s nose and settled itself between his throat and nasal cavity.

Two doctors operated on the man for an hour to remove the five-inch fish from his body, as per reports.

The two doctors, aided by three nurses, obtained the fish from his mouth as it attempted to escape through his nose.

According to Times Now, Sermsri Pathompanichrat, a hospital officer stated – “Our doctors worked hard to minimise the damage to our patient’s organs. They have successfully saved the patient. The chances of this happening are very low. I have never seen this kind of case before.”
