When Twitter doubled the character limit of tweets from 140, no one anticipated that one word would be enough to set the platform on fire.
All of a sudden, big companies and famous personalities are summing up their roles and functions in just one or two words on Twitter. The trend is believed to have been started by Amtrak- the business arm of National Railroad Corporation. On Friday Amtrack tweeted just one word – ‘trains’.

President Joe Biden, who is reportedly so much in love with trains that the press often calls him ‘Amtrack Joe’, joined in by tweeting ‘democracy’. With Biden joining the bandwagon, the trend rapidly caught on with the Twitteratis.
The news media giant CNN also joined by tweeting ‘breaking news’.
Eventually, the trend even reached India with Sachin Tendulkar tweeting ‘cricket’.

NASA was also quick to join the bandwagon and did not disappoint on the creative side either.
NPR, on the other hand, went back to its origin and tweeted ‘Radio’.
Brands also found this a good opportunity to jump on the bandwagon to score visibility points. The most prominent of them were Domino’s and Starbucks.
Annoyed with many brands joining the one-word Tweet trend, one user wrote, “This went from cute, quirky tweet to stupid Brand Twitter meme in record time. I hate it here”.
However, the most sarcastic of the responses came from none other than Deadpool. In its characteristic deadpan humor and upbeat sarcasm, Deadpool just wrote “deadpool” and decided to leave it there. Marvel fans certainly enjoyed that from their beloved superhero.
Twitter is clearly a place where the most unexpected things happen on a mass scale. Have you joined the trend yet? Don’t forget that it takes only one word – and nothing more!
