A traffic cop has a difficult job on his hands: to stand on the road all day and efficiently control vehicle traffic. However, there are a few cops who go above and beyond the call of duty to help others.

On the internet, a video of a traffic cop sweeping the road to remove small pebbles and rocks while the traffic light is red is gaining popularity. These foreign objects may cause tyre punctures.

Awanish Sharan, an IAS Officer from the Chhattisgarh Cadre, tweeted the video on Twitter.

A man in a pink shirt can also be seen in the video behind the cop, advising motorists to go a little slower when the red light turns green, as well as showing them the way and allowing the officer to remove all of the stones.

The caption reads, “Respect for You.”

Over 9.6 lakh views and 54,000 likes have been recorded for the video.

People have praised the officer for going above and beyond to ensure commuter safety.

“Humanity is more than a duty, as demonstrated yet again,” one user said. “My salute and admiration,” said another.

“Huge respect sir,” read another tweet.

A photo of a traffic cop in Kolkata went viral on social media in April. He was spotted giving a destitute child tuition.

With a long rod in his hand, the cop was spotted teaching the child on the side of the road. The photo was posted on the Kolkata Police Department’s Facebook page.

Another video that has gone viral on social media shows a vigilant traffic cop rescuing the life of a youngster from a near-fatal collision.

The cop, identified as Sunder Lal, saves the boy (who had fallen from an electric rickshaw) by running in front of a speeding bus in the middle of heavy traffic, according to a video provided by an Indian Administrative Service officer Awanish Sharan.

Sharan shared CCTV images of a youngster falling from a moving rickshaw onto a busy road. Lal, who is in charge of traffic, jumps in front of a bus that comes to a complete stop, racing to pick up the youngster and deliver him over to his mother. She appeared to be riding in the same three-wheeler as him.
