The United States Federal Trade Commission will now be looking into what goes inside the kitchens of Mcdonald’s and investigate why the fast-food chain’s ice cream machines are mostly not functional, according to US media reports.

The Federal Trade Commission sought information from various franchisees of McDonald’s about their ice cream machine problems in a letter viewed by The Wall Street Journal. However, the federal body did not comment on the matter.

According to reports from Business Insider, the fast-food giant purchases its ice cream dispensers from the Taylor Company. The media house added that the equipment has high maintenance standards.

Multiple media reports suggest that the United States Federal Trade Commission is not diving nose-first into the investigation and is just engaging in preliminary questioning. Moreover, reports suggest that no outcome is ensured from the probe being carried out by the federal body.

The ice cream machines in McDonald’s require skilled staff who would be tasked to clean and operate the equipment. According to reports from Wall Street Journal, the machines need to go through a heat-cleaning cycle. This process often lasts up to four hours.

The news has sent social media platforms buzzing as people who relate to the problem have high expectations from the investigation of the United States Federal Trade Commission.

One Twitter user wrote, “The FTC is seriously investigating why McDonald’s ice cream machines are ways broke…your days are numbered Ronald!”

Another user shared how they navigate around the broken ice cream machine problem. The user wrote, “my life hack with McDonald’s ice cream/milkshake machine is to check their app and if it says unavailable, from my experience, that means its not working.”
