A video of a man releasing a baby dolphin from a fishing net that had been tangled around its beak and fin has gone viral. Officer Nelson Silva of the Miami-Dade Police Department works to free the dolphin from tangled netting in the waters near Shorecrest in this video.
The dolphin gets calm after initially perceiving Silva’s intention as a threat.

Authorities said Silva, a member of the department’s marine patrol section, arrived at the site shortly after receiving a call about a dolphin in trouble.
The man can be seen carefully removing the net while speaking in a calming tone in the popular video that has reappeared on social media.

He gets rid of the net with ease, caresses the newborn dolphin, and kisses its head before releasing it back into the sea.
According to ViralHog, the man said, “I went sea fishing.”

“Upon returning from fishing, I saw something moving in the middle of the water and put my boat in the direction of this thing,” he explained.
“I saw after getting close that it was a dolphin trapped in a fishing net when the animal spotted my boat, it came towards me. When I caught the dolphin he was calm. Then I pulled him out of the fishing net and threw him in the sea again.”

Dolphins are small toothed cetaceans with a permanent “smile” due to their bent jaws. There are 36 different dolphin species that can be found in every ocean. The majority of dolphins dwell in the ocean or in brackish waters along coastlines. There are a few species that dwell in freshwater streams and rivers, such as the South Asian river dolphin and the Amazon river dolphin, or boto.
