A heart-touching video of bonding between a person and a monkey is doing the rounds on the internet. Posted by Twitter user Aslaw CC, the 45-second clip shows a monkey at the funeral of a man who used to feed it whenever the langur visited his residence. It can be seen sitting near the man and trying to wake him up.

The user who shared the video claimed the scenes were filmed in the city of Batticaloa in eastern Sri Lanka. 

The monkey is seen approaching the body of the man amidst the mourning crowd in the video. One person tried to move the monkey away, but it refused to leave and stayed near the body of the deceased man. Later on, it appears to be saluting the man’s body and even bows down to kiss his forehead. 

The monkey even tries to wake the man up by shaking his hand and nudging him. 

This gesture by the monkey surprised the crowd. 

The video received 412 likes and 113 retweets at the time of writing this report. 

Twitter users reacted to this video, praising the bond between an animal and a man. “Make me feel crying….” a user commented. “Unconditional love of the animal world. Human beings have reduced relationships to need-based ones. Very touching sight!” another user said.

Many users talked about human greed and how it is destroying our nature and wildlife, as opposed to animals who still trust human beings. Others were surprised at this human-like display of affection by an animal. “Unconditional love,” a Twitter user said as they praised this connection between a human and the monkey. 

Several other clips have gone viral in the past that display a similar kind of human-animal bond. 

A video clip went viral in August this year which showed a monkey offering a distressed man to sleep on its lap. As the man rests his head on its lap, the monkey consoles him and pats his shoulder.
