With the Road Safety World Series final just around the corner, scheduled for March 21, the cricket veterans are all set to clash to compete for the title. After rising through the league stages of the matches, which initially involved a total of six teams, India and Sri Lanka have made it to final showdown. Both teams consist of world-renowned players who have achieved great accolades and records during their peak.
Here are a few players to look out for during the final match:
India's very own Masterblaster and holder of multiple records, has a special place in the hearts of Indian cricket lovers, which is why this list would not have rounded up without his name. In the semi-final game of the series, played between India and West Indies, Tendulkar made a major contribution to India's score of 218. He scored a total of 65 runs in just 42 deliveries.
2) Tillakaratne Dilshan
The former opening batsman for Sri Lanka, who has helped his team secure many significant titles in the past, Tillakaratne Dilshan has been giving an all-rounder performance in the series so far. He gave Sri Lanka legends the necessary boost it needed from the bowling side and made sure England was restricted at a target that was easily beatable. While chasing England's 78-run-score, he contributed a knock of 61 runs in just 26 deliveries.
3) Yuvraj Singh
In one of the final matches of the league stages, Yuvraj Singh played a knock that would easily remind every cricket-lover of the 2007 over against England when he struck six consecutive sixes. In the match against South Africa last week, Singh smashed four consecutive sixes into the stands effortlessly. However, he later clarified that he did not go all the way as he wanted to retain the strike in the coming overs.
Kulasekara, one of the most prominent and specialised bowlers the Sri Lankan team has had, did not disappoint his fans during the matches leading up to the final against India. In the match against South Africa, he managed to get the tournament's first five-wicket haul while dismissing players like Roger Telemachus, Justin Kemp, Makhaya Ntini and Monde Zondeki.
5) Virendra Sehwag
Sehwag, also commonly known as 'Viru', completed a full circle on the list as Sehwag and Tendulkar are known to be India's favorite opening pair. The two players are famously compatible with each other on the field and never fail to give team India the desired push. Sehwag, who is also famous for singing Bollywood music under his breath while batting, played a brilliant knock against Bangladesh in the ongoing series and smashed a shocking total of 80 in just 35 deliveries, making sure the Indian team retains its dominant position.
