Former England captain Kevin Pietersen believes that all-rounder Moeen Ali
cannot be a regular starter for England in T20Is. Ali has made an impactful start with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 but Pietersen thinks that if everyone is
fit, Ali will not make it to England’s T20I squad.

“I
don’t think he can be a regular starter, but he’s definitely somebody who can
step in where there is illness, injury or somebody needs a rest. He just
happens to be playing in a fantastic era of English batsmen. Look at the great
Australian side around 20 years ago when guys like Mike Hussey and Damien
Martyn were struggling to get in,” Pietersen wrote in an article on Betway.

He further stated that Ali is a great three-dimentional player and he is glad the 33-year-old is proving himself every day.
